What is the difference between LDW and LKA?
Lane departure warning only alerts you, usually with a chime or a vibrating wheel. Lane keep assist goes further and applies a small steering input to nudge the car back between the lines.
Why does lane keep assist switch itself off?
It needs both clear lane markings and a healthy steering system. Worn-out road paint, a dirty camera, or a fault on the electric steering side will all take it offline.
How is a lane keep assist fault diagnosed?
The camera area is cleaned and the road markings assessed first. Then both the ADAS and steering modules are scanned, because LKA depends on the electric steering being fault-free. Camera calibration is verified, steering-angle data is compared against actual wheel position, and the wiring and connectors are inspected.
